Modeling is a tough career

Modeling is a fun career but it’s demanding too. Modeling is exciting but you have to keep in mind the demands and the pressure from behind the scene. You have to read some of the real stories from models to understand how much pressure they have from their job. If you’re going to pursue a career in modeling, you have to keep in mind all of those things. You have to have a strong state of mind before you can handle the runway. There was a story of a model who jumped out of a building over harsh criticism. The staff behind the scene isn’t always friendly either. I used to have a model friend and she told me that it was far from a friendly career. If you’re strong and love your career then you might survive. Modeling is almost the same as being an actor or a singer. You get a lot of media attention and some of it can be dreading or upsetting. They might follow your every move if you become famous. You will become a celebrity. A celebrity life is nice but there are all sorts of pressure that goes along with it too. One of the pressures is to stay in top shape and look good all the time which can be very hard if you have a family or children. You have to keep all of these things in mind when you’re thinking about modeling. I used to have a friend who said that she rarely eats anything beside apples and coffee. You don’t get to eat a lot. If you do eat, you have to work out all the time to keep in top shape.

One sports illustrated model had a hole in her heart and she quit modeling. She said that she would never allow her kids to be a model. It’s too demanding in that you have to diet and work out all the time. There is a pressure from men and colleagues. The media picks on you all the time. You have to do a lot of traveling too. You might not like the idea of leaving your family and be on the road all the time. You have to be away from your family. It’s hard to relax as a model. You can’t take out a bowl of ice cream and curl up with a movie. You rarely get to enjoy food or just let go of your looks. The real demand is on the fashion show and the staff behind it. They might comments on your looks or you’re modeling style and it can be stressful. You have to take a class on mental coaching in order to survive all of those harsh criticisms. People that are in the industry aren’t always ethical or supportive.

Have you heard of all of the criticism towards Heidi Klum from one of the famous fashion designer lately? It was very harsh. If you’re naturally thin and beautiful then you might get by with the demands for being fit and pretty. If you have to work out all the time to keep in shape then it’s not a good idea to try modeling. There are different kinds of modeling and not all of them require that you are tall and thin. You can do print modeling or TV modeling where they don’t require that you are thin and tall. TV and print ask for a more unique look and you might be able to fit in with those medium. Modeling is harder than acting. Actors don’t have to be tall or thin. They a be short and chubby and still be able to make it in the industry. If you’re ever frustrated with modeling you should try acting instead.

Creative play ideas for you and your kids at home

Doing activities in the home with your kids cuts down on costs of outings, and brings you closer together. On a day when you have lots of patience, and are prepared to let the kitchen get messed up try one of these creative ideas.

Simple painting. Provide lots of large pieces of paper, and paints. Depending on the age of your kids, make it finger paints or paint with brushes. Just let them go for it. If you are worried about the mess on clothes let them paint in their vests or put them in a large plastic bag with a hole cut out for their arms and head. You can even lay plastic or paper on the floor. But why bother. Simply have a cloth at the ready, and wash down the whole area afterwards. Make sure you pick out a few masterpieces to display afterwards, and don’t just dump the whole lot in the bin.

Make a film or slide show story with them. Decide what the plot will be – the easiest is to take a fairytale and have them act it out. Dress up, divide roles, and act it out. Film it or take still shots of each scene. Afterwards gather around the computer and compile the whole lot as a windows presentation, or just watch and save it on your computer. If you are not computer savvy, older kids can help. If you really get into it, get the photos printed up at a photo shop, or the film put on a disc.

Buy plaster of Paris strips from an art store – the kind they use to put your arm in a cast – this is an amazing source for art projects. For younger kids they can model a figure around an old soft drink bottle, or make a plate on a plastic plate, and then leave their hand print on it. The hand print can make a nice memento in years to come. Old and braver kids, can smother their faces with Vaseline or cream, and then have someone else cover their face with the plaster of Paris, excluding the nostril and mouth area. Once this is dry, they have a perfect mask. The strips need to be kept moist, and they dry very quickly, so work fast. It will only take about 2 minutes for the mask to dry, and to help it you can sit in the sun. Experiment with this material, and you will find that you can make model animals, jewelry and any number of statues out of it.

Play at putting on make-up. Girls will be girls, and the boys can be monsters or gentlemen with moustaches, and scares!

With these games, you teach them that anything is possible with a little imagination, and that not all entertainment revolves around electrical gadgets. Let them invent and explore new materials, let them think out of the box – the T.V. box!

All About Baby Highchairs

Baby highchairs are not necessary for your child if s/he is under six months of age. Although some companies make them so they recline for infants, they are not necessary until your child is able to sit up. The choice is yours.

Highchairs currently come with all kinds of features that are really more for the parent or caregiver than the child. Although the nicely padded seat covers make the seats comfortable. Some highchairs have wheels to make them easier to move however this is not necessary. Some are now coming with height adjustable mechanisms to accommodate your child’s growth and to be able bring the baby closer to the table. There are also adjustable foot rests to accommodate your child’s growth as well.
Most now fold for easy storage.

Highchairs now can be converted into play tables. Some of them have an insert that fits over the tray to give you baby a place to play. The feeding tray on many models come with an inset cup/bottle holder and some models have extra large feeding trays.

The base of the highchair should be broad and stable to help prevent the highchair from tipping. If your child leans over the side the chair could tip and injure your child. It is best then to teach your child to sit up all the time. Many highchairs are now foldable for easy storage.

When looking at highchairs some people express opinions about what the
highchair is made of. There are all wood chairs that tend to not be adjustable in height. There are metal framed highchairs with plastic trays and their are highchairs that are plastic.

There are things you can do to make the highchair safe place to be. Never leave your child unattended to go grab a bib, food, or answer the phone. It only takes a second for your baby to have an accident. You should have everything ready before putting your child in the chair.

Your child should always be strapped into the highchair without exception. The feeding tray will not prevent your baby from slipping under it and falling to the floor and possibly incurring an injury. If an older child slips under the tray they could get stuck and be injured.

If your high chair folds be sure that when you open it, that it locks in open position. If the chair collapses your baby could be hurt. This can be prevented with periodic checks of all parts of the chair.

Do not place the highchair near any place that the baby could push off from and possibly have an accident. Also do not place your baby’s chair near any wires that can be pulled on. All cords should be out of reach anyway.

When putting the feeding tray in place be sure to watch your child’s fingers. They could be pinched or severely cut. Also be sure the lock catches by tugging on the tray gently. It will not hold your child in place but if it is loose or doesn’t catch, your child if not strapped in could fall and get hurt.

Wear of the high chair can be hazardous. If the vinyl cover over foam is torn the baby could ingest small pieces of foam. Worn locking mechanisms could prevent the tray from staying in place. All belts and clasps should be checked for fraying or tears. The clasps for missing pieces or cracks. Cracked or chipped trays could cause injury or harbor germs. This type of check should be done before purchasing a second hand chair as well.

Plastic Model Kits

My kid has been addicted to plastic model kits for the past few years. As a matter of fact, I do not even know where he gets them. I have barely assembled one plastic model kit myself. I absolutely never appreciated the plastic airplane model that he loves. The only form that I ever enjoyed was that of the first space shuttle that completely launched into orbit. Everybody was excited with the space program during those days that is why putting a model spaceship together was almost an indispensable idea of every strong American kid.

At the beginning, I never supported his fascination with plastic model kits. I am quite a practical type of person so I always consider putting some effort into my hobbies and I do believe that it is necessary to have some past times. These things would surely give me a couple of benefits. I just could not see the good thing about constructing a 148 model NASCAR car.

In spite of everything, his obsession for plastic model kits is definitely contagious, since I have begun to be fascinated myself. I even like the fantastic models like those from a cartoon show. If I am correct they are called Gundam plastic model kits. They are absolutely great! They are giant robots from one of the Japanese animated cartoons. Whenever I stare at them, I think about the thrill that the animated cartoon could have given me, if I am still a young boy this moment. Too bad, there was not anything like that when I was growing up. If there was something like that before, I would have really watched it myself. After all, who would not want to see giant robots fighting over the destiny of the whole world?

My son’s passion of plastic model kits makes his birthdays quite easy for me. I always know where to look and just get him those types of stuffs. Knowing all his fascinations about plastic model kits make it a lot easier for me to choose which of those he would like the most. Anyway, it is also very easy for me since my son always give hints to what exact model he likes. Still, whenever he gets those plastic model kits, he seemed to be surprised. He maybe the weirdo type of kid but I am pretty sure that he is respectful and gracious.

Just lately, he has started to get into plastic model ship kits. I am totally proud of my young man. Building a plastic model ship is not that easy. If you have already seen someone assemble a plastic model kit, you will surely be amazed since it is much more difficult than those snap-together plastic model kits. You need to make sure that the hull, the rigging, the masts, and the sails of the boat to perfectly fit for the model to look like what it is supposed to be.
